Preconception Coaching

A Registered Nurse Who Helps Your Patients Prepare for Pregnancy

RN-delivered coaching by telehealth for women in Michigan, New York and Texas. Self-pay. Most clients enroll directly with us, and referrals are always welcome.

  • A potential new patient pipeline. We often meet women before they'd start OB care, and we help those without a physician find one in your specialty.
  • Gaps caught early. Medication, vaccine, screening and chronic-disease gaps are identified and coordinated with her healthcare team.
  • Your patient stays yours. Medical decisions, orders and treatment targets stay with you.
How it works
  1. RN Assessment

Up to 90 minutes by telehealth, including full medication reconciliation.

  2. Written Care Plan

Identified needs and clinician recommendations, when available, become trackable steps with owners and target dates.

  3. Follow-Through

Weekly check-ins with the same nurse on adherence, appointments, testing and vaccines.

Not for: known pregnancy; emergent needs; unstable chronic conditions that need physician or MFM evaluation first; active infertility treatment or IVF.

Questions Providers Ask

Will a doula interfere with my plan of care?

No. Our doulas are not clinicians. They help your patient understand her options and encourage her to bring questions to you.

Do my patients need a referral?

No. Patients can schedule doula support or enroll in Preconception Coaching on their own. Referrals are welcome.

What does this cost?

Nothing for your practice. Doula Support is billed to the patient's Michigan Medicaid or UnitedHealthcare commercial or Marketplace plan. Preconception Coaching is self-pay.

How will I hear from you?

With the patient's consent, we keep your office updated. Urgent concerns are escalated the same day. Emergencies go straight to emergency services.

Doula Support is non-clinical education, comfort and emotional support. Preconception Coaching is nurse-led care coordination and education, delivered by a registered nurse. Neither replaces care from a physician or other licensed provider, and Obstetra Care staff do not diagnose conditions or prescribe, start, stop or change medications. No program can guarantee a particular conception, pregnancy or birth outcome. In an emergency, patients should call 911.
