Why Obstetra

Connected to Your Real Medical Care

Delivered by a Registered Nurse

Not a generic wellness or fertility coach. Your nurse has clinical training in pregnancy and maternal health.

Built on Your Own Health History

Your plan starts from your records, medications and past pregnancies, not a one-size-fits-all checklist.

Your Doctor Stays Your Doctor

When something needs a medical decision, we connect with your physician. We don't replace that relationship.

Help With Follow-Through

A plan only helps if it gets done. We help you book, track and finish each step.

Common Questions

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No. You can sign up on your own. We'll ask who your OB/GYN or primary care provider is. With your permission, we'll get your records and involve them whenever a medical decision is needed. If you don't have a provider yet, we'll help you find one.

Will my nurse change my medications?

No. Your nurse reviews everything you take and helps you prepare the right questions. Decisions to start, stop or change a medication are made by your prescriber. Please don't stop a medication on your own because you hope to become pregnant.

Is this covered by insurance?

Preconception Coaching is self-pay. We'll help you use your insurance for any visits, tests or referrals your doctor recommends.

Where is this available?

Visits are by telehealth for clients who are located in Michigan, New York or Texas at the time of each visit.

How long before trying to conceive should I start?

Earlier is better. Some steps, like reaching a stable blood pressure, adjusting a medication or catching up on a vaccine, can take several months. Some vaccines also mean waiting a month before trying. Starting three or more months ahead gives you time to work through your plan.

What happens if I get pregnant during the program?

Congratulations! Let your nurse know. We'll make sure you have a prenatal care provider, flag anything in your plan that your doctor should review right away, and help you move smoothly into prenatal care.

What if I've been trying for a while?

Your nurse will ask how long you've been trying and let you know when it's time to talk with your doctor about a fertility evaluation. That's usually after about 12 months if you're under 35, or about 6 months if you're 35 or older.

Preconception Coaching is nurse-led care coordination and education, delivered by a registered nurse. It does not replace care from your physician or other licensed provider, and your nurse does not diagnose conditions or prescribe, start, stop or change medications. Preparing before pregnancy can lower some risks, but no program can guarantee a particular conception or pregnancy outcome. Messaging is not monitored for emergencies. If you have an emergency, call 911.
